Letter dated 19 November 1990 from the Chargé d'affaires a.i. of
the Permanent Observer Mission of Palestine to the United Nations
addressed to the Secretary-General
I am instructed by the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, which has the powers and responsibilities of the Provisional Government of Palestine, to bring the following to your immediate attention:
Once more the Prime Minister of Israel reiterated his position and the position of the Israeli Government on the so-called "Greater Israel". Shamir said yesterday "it is our duty (the duty of the Likud Party) to maintain the land of Israel from the sea to the Jordan river, for the future generation to come and for the great immigration". He also said "there is no relation between keeping the land of greater Israel on one hand and the great immigration which is the realization of zionism on the other hand".
Such position provides the international community with additional evidence of the real positions and intentions of the Israeli Government, which continues to defy the international legitimacy represented by the United Nations and especially the Security Council and its resolutions.
There is an immediate need for the international community to indicate, once more, its categorical rejection of such positions and statements.
I should be grateful if you would arrange to have the text of this letter circulated as an official document of the General Assembly, under agenda items 23, 35 and 75, and of the Security Council.
(Signed) Dr. Nasser AL-KIDWA
Alternate Permanent Observer
of Palestine to the United Nations
