The Secretary-General spoke today with H.M. King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The Secretary-General and the King discussed developments in the Middle East Peace Process, including the situation in Jerusalem. The Secretary-General reiterated his call for calm and for the status quo at the holy sites in Jerusalem to be upheld and respected.
It is essential to restore the hope of the Palestinian people, which requires the engagement of the international community for the resumption of the peace process in support of the two state solution.
