Identical letters dated 18 April 2001 from the Permanent Representative
of Iraq to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General
and to the President of the Security Council
I have the honour, in my capacity as Chairman of the Arab Group for the month of April 2001 and on behalf of the States members of the League of Arab States, to inform you that we request the retention of the following items listed in paragraph 8 of the statement by the Secretary-General on matters of which the Security Council is seized and on the stage reached in their consideration:
1. The Palestine question.
16. The Middle East problem, including the Palestinian question.
19. The question of the exercise by the Palestinian people of its inalienable rights.
We further request that the Security Council secretariat be instructed not to delete any of the items concerning the question of Palestine, the situation in the Middle East and the exercise by the Palestinian people of its inalienable rights and that all items relating to such items and contained in the list of matters of which the Security Council is seized be retained, inasmuch as they pertain to the responsibility of the Security Council for the maintenance of international peace and security.
I should be grateful if you would have the text of this letter circulated as a document of the Security Council.
