PALESTINE PROGRESS REPORT OF THE UNITED NATIONS
MEDIATOR ON PALESTINE
Cablegrams dated 10 and 21 September 1948 from the Mediator and the
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Transjordan to the Secretary-General
concerning Transjordan’s request for participation in the consideration
of the Palestine question
10 September 1948
On 9 September during visit in Amman yesterday, the Prime Minister of Transjordan asked me to transmit to the Secretary-General formal request of Government of Transjordan that it have an official observer at forthcoming Paris session of General Assembly. The Government of Transjordan is particularly interested in the problem of Palestine and feels that it should have non-voting representative present whenever the General Assembly or its Committees consider that question, in view of Transjordan’s close connexion with Palestine in every respect.
Mediator
21 September 1948
During the Mediator’s last visit to Amman, the possibility of Transjordan sending an observer to the United Nations Assembly in Paris was discussed and recommended by the Mediator. Transjordan is interested in the idea and requests consideration and an early reply in view of Transjordan’s interests involved.
