Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr. Horacio Cartes, President of the Republic of Paraguay

The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Horacio Cartes, President of Paraguay.  The Secretary-General expressed appreciation for Paraguay’s active support and participation in the Group of Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs).  He thanked Paraguay for its contribution to United Nations peacekeeping, especially in Haiti.  The Secretary-General recognized Paraguay’s membership of the Human Rights Council.  He also emphasized the importance of launching the implementation of the 2030 Agenda expeditiously.  The Secretary-General took the opportunity to reiterate his gratitude to the Government for its hospitality during his visit to Paraguay in February.
