Working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) of the Lao PDR for 3 years, Mr. Phongsavath is a desk officer in the UN Economic and Social Affairs Division, specifically mandated to the issue pertaining Least Developed Country (LDC) graduation.

His expertise also focuses on making analytical research to his supervisors and senior management levels in order to seek instructions and policies on different topics. Having earlier worked in the area of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs), he is experienced with development project documents and its entire processes, starting from the project approval to its implementation.

Mr. Phongsavath received his double bachelor’s degrees of International Relations and English Studies in 2015 and 2016, respectively. Learning from his professional experience, pursuing his Master’s in Development Studies is his priority. He has previously made some academic and professional achievements, notably receiving a scholarship for an undergraduate exchange program to study in the United States and being selected to currently participate in the President of the General Assembly Fellowship for Harnessing Opportunities for Promoting Empowerment of Youth (PGA Fellowship for HOPE).

For the future aspiration, Mr. Phongsavath aims to embark on his career path as a diplomat and wishes to carry on his area of expertise in multilateral affairs by posting at the Permanent Mission to the UN in New York.
