Paulina Kubiak Greer was appointed as the Spokesperson for the President of the 76th Session of the General Assembly, Abdulla Shahid.

Paulina began her career at the United Nations with the UN Department of Global Communications in 2007, following a successful completion of the National Competitive Recruitment Exam currently known as the UN Young Professionals Programme.

She served two years in Afghanistan, promoted to the position of Deputy Director of Communications a.i. with UNAMA in Kabul. Her field experience extends to East Africa, where she worked with UNSOA, the UN peacekeeping office in support of the African Union in Somalia (AMISOM), based out of Nairobi and Addis.

 Among other UN field work, she reported from the Small Island Developing States conference in Samoa, where she focused on sustainable economic development, ocean health, and climate change and disaster risk management. Beginning in 2005, she was temporarily assigned to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Denmark and Mexico, and the UN Development Programme’s (UNDP) Commission on Legal Empowerment of the Poor.

At the UN Headquarters in New York, Paulina sets the editorial lead for the nine-language teams at UN News. Within the Secretariat, she has also worked for the Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Sexual Violence in Conflict and with the Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs.  

Before joining the UN, Paulina spent five years with CNN in Atlanta and New York, most recently as a producer and writer for “American Morning”. She has worked for Fox News and PBS, and has contributed to ABC, CBS and NPR.

Paulina holds a Master of Arts in International Relations from Yale University, and Bachelor’s degrees in Journalism and Political Science from the University of Illinois. She is a native Polish speaker, proficient in Spanish, with basic knowledge of Russian and some French.
