Inga Kanchaveli
Inga Kanchaveli is the Deputy Team Leader of the Reform, Legal and Budget team in the Office of the President of the General Assembly. She is also the Focal Point on issues related to the General Committee and the Sixth (Legal) Committee.
Previously, Inga served as an adviser to the Presidents of the General Assembly during the 72nd, 73rd and 75th sessions. She held the positions of Senior Adviser on General Assembly Affairs, Adviser on legal issues, and was also a Special Assistant to the President. In those posts she provided legal and procedural advice to key intergovernmental processes and mandates, commemorative events and formal plenary meetings of the Assembly, including General Assembly Special Sessions in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and against Corruption in 2020-2021, as well as the meetings of the 10th Emergency Special Session (resumed) in 2017-2018.
Inga previously also worked for the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF International) on issues related to the first ever UN Summit on Biodiversity.
A Georgian diplomat, Inga has worked for the United Nations Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, as well as the Permanent Mission of Georgia to the United Nations. She was a delegate of Georgia to the Sixth Committee from the 68th to 71st sessions of the General Assembly. Inga also served as the Vice-President for the 27th meeting of States parties to the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea in 2017.
In addition, as an elections officer, she successfully coordinated campaigns in New York for Georgia’s candidatures to highly competitive international positions and various international bodies, including the post of Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in 2017.
She speaks Georgian, English and Russian.
