The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid met today with the Permanent Representative of India H.E. Ms Ruchira Kamboj.
The President congratulated Ambassador Kamboj on her appointment and on making history as the first female Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations. He thanked the Government of India, and the Permanent Mission for the support extended to his Presidency and to his Office.
Ambassador Kamboj thanked the President for the welcome and congratulated him on the many initiatives he has undertaken during his Presidency. She assured her full support and that of the delegation, during the remainder of the seventy-sixth session.
The meeting took place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
