The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with H.E. Mr. Jeyhun Bayramov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
President Shahid thanked the Government of Azerbaijan for its continued support to his Presidency of Hope and his priorities for the 76th session, and the valuable support to his office.
President Shahid also commended the country for its strong commitment to multilateralism, and active role and contribution in addressing various global challenges, especially in its capacity as the Chair of the Non-Aligned Movement.
The President and the Minister discussed a range of international and regional issues, including peace and security, COVID-19, women’s empowerment, climate change and the environment, and youth engagement.
Minister Bayramov reiterated Azerbaijan’s firm commitment the principles of the UN Charter and reaffirmed the country’s continued support to the work of the UN.
The meeting took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.
