Readout of the meeting between President of General Assembly and the Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development of Cote d’Ivoire, H.E. Mr. Jean-Luc ASSI.

The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with H.E. Mr. Jean-Luc Assi, the Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development of Cote d’Ivoire.

H.E. Mr. Jean-Luc Assi thanked the PGA for his support to the UNCCD COP-15 and his advocacy on issues related to desertification, land degradation and drought. He briefed the President about Cote d’Ivoire’s efforts to address climate change and DLDDissues. 

The President of the General Assembly thanked the Government of Cote d’Ivoire for its continuous support to the Presidency of Hope. He also congratulatedCote d’Ivoire’s on the successful hosting of the UNCCD COP15.

Both sides also discussed other relevant topics such as multilateralism, climate change, youth, and gender. 

The meeting took place in Sofitel, Hotel Ivoire in Abidjan.
