Readout of the meeting between President of General Assembly and the President of the Republic Nigeria, H.E. Mr. Muhammadu Buhari

The President of the 76^th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with H.E. Mr. Muhammadu Buhari, the President of the Republic of Nigeria.

H.E. Mr. Muhammadu Buhari expressed his support for the Presidency of Hope and reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to multilateralism and to support the work of the United Nations.

The President commended Nigeria’s role in enhancing global peace and security, praised its progress in terms of sustainable development, and its leadership role as the president of the Pan-African Great Green wall (PAGGW). He also expressed gratitude for Nigeria’s constant support his presidency’s five priorities. 

Both sides also discussed other relevant topics such as multilateralism, climate change, youth, and gender. 

The meeting took place in Sofitel, Hotel Ivoire in Abidjan.
