Readout of meeting between President of General Assembly and H.E. Ambassador Bassam Sabbagh, Permanent Representative of the Syrian Arab Republic to the United Nations

The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with H.E. Ambassador Bassam Sabbagh, Permanent Representative of the Syrian Arab Republic to the United Nations. 

Ambassador Sabbagh and President Shahid exchanged views on the Secretary General’s report “Our Common Agenda” as well as matters pertaining to the working methods of Main Committees of the General Assembly. 

Ambassador Sabbagh extended his delegation’s support for the upcoming high-level events planned by the PGA such as that on vaccines in January 2022 and the supersession on nature in July 2022.

The President shared his assessment of COP26 deliberations and his experiences in Glasgow. 

The meeting took place in the President’s office at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
