The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with H.E. Jeppe Kofod, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.  

Foreign Minister Kofod pledged the continued support of Denmark to the Office of the President of the General Assembly, including the specific priorities identified by the President for the 76th session.  They both agreed on the need to strengthen the role of the General Assembly, to revitalize the United Nations, and to elevate multilateralism with all necessary means. 

The President underlined the necessity of achieving vaccine for all by the end of 2022 as the first step to building back better from the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. The President and Minister Kofod also discussed climate change, sustainable development, human rights, peace and security, gender equality and the evolving situation in Afghanistan. 

The meeting took place in the President’s office at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
