Readout of the meeting between President of General Assembly and United Nations Country Team in Kazakhstan

The President of the 76^th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with U.N. Resident Coordinator in Kazakhstan, Ms. Michaela Friberg-Storey and the country team. The meeting was joined by representatives of FAO, UNDP, OHCHR, UNDP, UNFPA, UNDSS, UNICEF, UNRCCA, WHO, UNV, UN Women, DGC, ITU, ILO, UNODC.

President Shahid expressed his gratitude to the Resident Coordinator and her team for the support provided during his visit to Kazakhstan. He also highlighted the important role that United Nation country teams play especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as in supporting the priorities of the Governments and local communities towards the achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Ms. Michaela Friberg-Storey briefed President Shahid on the areas of work carried by the UN Country Team in Kazakhstan and Central Asia.

The meeting took place in Astana Marriot Hotel, in Nursultan.
