The President of the General Assembly during the seventy-sixth session, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid met with H.E. Mr. Ilia Darchiashvili, Minister of Foreign affairs of Georgia.
President Shahid expressed his gratitude to the Minister Darchiashvili for the invitation and warm welcome to Georgia. He underlined the excellent cooperation and support from the Mission of Georgia to the United Nations.
Both leaders discussed current challenges to multilateralism, recent initiatives to strengthen the role of the General Assembly and the need for revitalization of the United Nations.
They also discussed peace and security, as well as humanitarian issues in Georgia and the region.
President Shahid thanked H.E. Mr. Ilia Darchiashvili for Georgia’s continued support to his Presidency of Hope and the priorities of the 76th session.
The meeting took place in Tbilisi, Georgia.
