The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid met today with Mr. Martins Stakis, the Mayor of Riga, capital of Latvia.
President Shahid conveyed his gratitude to the city of Riga and to its citizens for receiving refugees from Ukraine, providing them protection and basic services, pointing out that addressing the needs of people, respecting the human rights of all are among the priorities of his presidency.
Mayor Stakis briefed PGA on the city’s ongoing efforts, but also the challenges the city is facing in helping the refugees through the establishment of the Ukrainian Support Center in the heart of the capital.
The meeting took place at Riga City Council in Riga.
