The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with Ms. Anita Muižniece, Minister of Education of the Republic of Latvia.
President Shahid congratulated Latvia for having presented its Voluntary National Review for the second time since 2018, recognizing the country’s determination to advance the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals through the important role of education.
The President and Minister Muižniece discussed the significance of youth engagement, and both agreed that ensuring the involvement of future generations in decision-making is key to investing in multilateralism.
The discussions also touched on the ongoing situation in Ukraine and its global implications.
The meeting took place in the President’s Office at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
