The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with H.E. Mr. Iván Duque Márquez, President of Colombia, on the sidelines of the 2022 United Nations Ocean Conference in Lisbon.
The President of the General Assembly complimented President Duque Márquez for his leadership on environmental issues and especially for being a strong advocate for the restoration of the health of the ocean.
President Duque Márquez briefed the President of the General Assembly on some of Colombia’s environmental priorities. He reiterated Colombia’s commitment to the ocean agenda and underscored the country’s initiatives in restoring coral reefs and protection of mangroves.
The meeting took place in the office of the President of the General Assembly at the Ocean Conference main venue in Lisbon.
