Readout of meeting between the President of the General Assembly and the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam

The President of the 76^th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, today met with the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam,  His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.

President Shahid commended the Sultan for his leadership in addressing the COVID-19 pandemic in Brunei as well as the country’s leadership in ASEAN.  President Shahid expressed his gratitude to His Majesty Sultan for the support of Brunei Darussalam to the Presidency of Hope, including the Fellowship of Hope.

His Majesty Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah congratulated President Shahid for the success of his presidency and reiterated Brunei’ firm commitment to multilateralism and the principles of the UN Charter.

The meeting took place in Istana Nurul Iman, Bandar Seri Begawan.
