The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, today met with H.E. Retno LP. Marsudi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.
Minister Marsudi and President Shahid discussed the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GPDRR), and the importance of holding this major international conference in Indonesia, with the COVID pandemic recovery in the backdrop.
President Shahid commended the holding of the GPDRR, calling Indonesia a role model that has set high standards for the rest of the world in building resilience and successfully vaccinating most of its people against COVID.
President Shahid also thanked the Foreign Minister for Indonesia’s strong support of his Presidency of Hope.
Both sides also discussed other relevant topics, such as multilateralism, Indonesia’s Presidency of the G20, Our Common Agenda and the impact of the Russia’s aggression in Ukraine on the rest of the world.
The meeting took place in the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center.
