Readout of the Meeting between President of General Assembly and Minister of Health of Italy

The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today H.E. Mr. Roberto Speranza, Minister of Health of Italy.

Minister Speranza pledged the continued support of Italy to multilateralism and the work of the President of the General Assembly, including the initiatives promoting universal COVID19 vaccination.

The President commended Italy’s leadership in promoting multilateralism and its strong support of the United Nations and the General Assembly. He underlined the importance of universal access to COVID19 vaccines and called on all Member States to contribute to this cause.

Both sides also discussed other relevant topics, such as youth involvement in multilateralism, mental health, and food security.

The meeting took place in the President’s office at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
