QUESTIONS

The Spokesperson was asked about the Liechtenstein-sponsored resolution entitled ‘Standing mandate for a General Assembly debate when a veto is cast in the Security Council’. The Spokesperson said that there has been no request to date from Liechtenstein on this matter. The Spokesperson also noted that Liechtenstein is planning an informal briefing on this topic on 18 April, which isn’t linked with the General Assembly.

The Spokesperson was asked if it is still possible for other Member States to pursue the Presidency of the General Assembly for the 77th Session. The Spokesperson confirmed by email that a Member State could announce another candidate at any time ahead of the 5 June vote. Each candidate would have to take part in an informal interactive dialogue.
