The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today withG20 Co-Sherpa, Ambassador Dian Triansyah Djani of Indonesia.  

Ambassador Djani shared with the President, Indonesia’s priorities for its G20 Presidency under the theme of “Recover Together, Recover Stronger”. He highlighted three priorities set under the theme, namely strengthening global health architecture, enhancing digital economy to ensure inclusive digital transformation, and promoting the transition toward new and sustainable energy.

President Shahid congratulated Indonesia on assuming the Presidency of the G20 and welcomed its focus on inclusive recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. He noted that these priorities aligned with several aspects of the priorities under the Presidency of Hope. President Shahid underlined the role of G20 in supporting the three pillars of recovery from COVID-19, namely global vaccination, financing global socio-economic resilience and reinvigorating multilateralism. 

They also discussed the impact of the ongoing crisis in Ukraine on the global economy and the efforts to strengthen collaboration between G20, the UN system, international financial institutions and regional organizations.  

The meeting took place in the President’s office at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
