Meeting between the President of the General Assembly and the Speaker of Yemen’s House of Representatives

The President of the 76^th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr Abdulla Shahid, met with Mr. Sultan Al Barkani, Speaker of Yemen’s House of Representatives on 16 February 2022.

Mr. Al Barkani briefed the President about the political and security situation in Yemen. They also discussed issues pertaining to peace and security and humanitarian aid to Yemen.

The President and the Speaker also exchanged views on the upcoming 2022 Annual Hearing of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) at the United Nations and the closer involvement of parliamentarians in UN activities towards advancement of multilateralism.

The meeting took place at the Office of the President of the General Assembly at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
