Meeting between the President of the General Assembly and the Permanent Representative of New Zealand, H.E. Ms. Carolyn Schwalger

The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with Ambassador H.E. Ms. Carolyn Schwalger, Permanent Representative of New Zealand.

Ambassador Schwalger welcomed the President’s priorities for 76th session, in particular the President’s focus on gender parity and championing women’s rights. The President thanked New Zealand for its continued support for multilateralism and the United Nations.

They also discussed the ongoing General Assembly consultations on the Secretary-General’s report ‘Our Common Agenda’; oceans, climate change and disaster risk reduction; and indigenous issues.

The meeting took place in the President’s office at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
