On 9 February the President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid met with the Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme, Mr Achim Steiner.
President Shahid thanked the UNDP for its support to the Office of the President of the General Assembly, for the various events, campaigns and for seconding a senior staff officer. The UNDP Administrator congratulated President Shahid on the work done so far during the seventy-sixth session, and pledged to continue support.
The President and the Administrator discussed the importance of putting in place inclusive financial frameworks for SIDS countries, the new report on Human Security launched by UNDP and exchanged views on upcoming events and processes such as the thematic consultations on Our Common Agenda report, the vaccine equity campaign, and the importance of including young people in multilateralism, and the PGA’s Fellowship for HOPE.
The meeting took place in the President’s office at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
