The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with the Speaker of the Council of Representatives of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Her Excellency Fawzia Bint Abdulla Zainal.
President Shahid congratulated Her Excellency Ms. Zainal for being the first elected Bahraini woman to serve as the speaker of the Council, which reflects the achievements of Bahrain in the field of advancement of gender equality and women empowerment.
President Shahid and Speaker Zainal discussed, among others, the role of parliaments in strengthening multilateralism, women’s empowerment and youth. They further spoke on the importance of Covid recovery, economic resilience and human rights.
The meeting took place in The Council of Representatives, Manama.
