The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain, H.E. Dr. Abdullatif Bin Rashed Al Zayani.
President Shahid thanked the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain for its continued support to the Presidency of Hope, priorities for the GA76 and for the support to his office. President Shahid also commended Bahrain for its strong commitment to multilateralism and active role and contribution in addressing various global challenges.
President Shahid and Foreign Minister Al Zayani discussed a range of international and regional issues, including climate change, peace and security, COVID-19, women empowerment and youth.
At Bahrain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the President and his delegation were given a presentation on the Ministry’s cooperation with the UN, an overview of Human Rights situation in the Kingdom and the work being done by the Mohamed Bin Mubarak Al Khalifa Academy for diplomatic studies, to recruit, train and empower Bahraini diplomats. The presentation was followed by a very lively discussion.
The meeting took place in The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Manama.
