The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with H.E. Ms Yoka Brandt, Permanent Representative of the Netherlands.
Ambassador Brandt thanked the President for his leadership, including on the General Assembly’s consideration of the Secretary-General’s report ‘Our Common Agenda’. They discussed issues confronting Small Island Developing States (SIDS), with Ambassador Brandt noting that the Kingdom of the Netherlands included three constituent countries in the Caribbean.
Other topics included climate change, gender, civil society engagement, vaccine equity and the issue of feasibility of a HRC candidate pledging event to improve accountability and transparency.
The meeting took place in the President’s office at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
