Readout of Meeting between the President of the General Assembly and the President of Malawi

On the sidelines of COP26 in Glasgow, Scotland, the President of the seventy-sixth session of the General Assembly H.E. Abdulla Shahid met with H.E. Lazarus Chakwera, the President of Malawi, in Malawi’s capacity as the Chair of the Least Developed Countries (LDCs).

During the meeting, President Shahid and President Chakwera discussed the challenges facing the LDCs, including access to vaccines, sustainable recovery and climate change. 

President Shahid committed the full support of his Office to a successful outcome at the fifth UN conference on Least Developed Countries to be held in Doha, Qatar from 23-27  January 2022.
