The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with H.E. Mr. Edgars Rinkēvičs, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia.
Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs expressed support to the priorities of the President of the General Assembly for the session, in particular on climate change, vaccines and COVID-19. He focused as well on the fight against the spread of disinformation and misinformation, human rights, migration and regional issues.
The President underlined the main themes for the session – “five rays of hope” and shared ideas of implementation priorities on climate change and recovering from the coronavirus disease.
The meeting took place in the President’s office at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
