The President of the 76th Session United Nations General Assembly H.E. Abdulla Shahid, participated in the AOSIS Leaders’ Summit held virtually today.
At the meeting the President of the General Assembly highlighted the impacts and implications of the climate change crisis and now COVID-19 which required urgent and innovative solutions.
The AOSIS Leaders Annual Meeting focused their discussion on taking stock of the current challenges faced by SIDS in implementing the SAMOA Pathway, 2030 Agenda, Paris Agreement and other international frameworks and explore solutions to their challenges.
The leaders also had the opportunity to discuss the group’s preparations towards COP26 and adopted the AOSIS Leader’s Declaration which captures the AOSIS group’s way forward.
