The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Republic of Mozambique, H.E. Nataniel Macamo.
Foreign Minister Macamo express the continued support of Mozambique to the Presidency of Hope and the priorities identified by President Shahid for the 76th session. She also underlined that, as one of the Vice Presidents, for the 76 session, Mozambique looks forward to working diligently with the President to ensure that multilateralism delivers for we the peoples.
The President underlined the necessity of achieving vaccine equity by the end of 2022, as the first step to build back better from the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Minister Macamo also briefed PGA about their candidature for the non-permanent member of the Security Council for the term 2023-24, the elections for which will take place in June 2022. She mentioned that Peacebuilding is one of the priorities for Mozambique.
Both sides also discussed other relevant topics such as multilateralism, terrorism, climate change, gender equality, and youth.
The meeting took place in the President’s office at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
