The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with H.E. Mr. Nikolaos Dendias, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic (Greece).
The President welcomed Foreign Minister Dendias and reaffirmed his commitment to convey a message of hope as the world increasingly depends upon multilateralism to overcome challenges such as the Covid-19 pandemic and climate change. The President also highlighted his support to the promotion of gender equality and to the inclusion of young people in the process of high-level decision-making.
Foreign Minister Dendias praised the return of in-person diplomacy and expressed support for the President in addressing the issues of vaccine distribution and the climate emergency.
Both President Shahid and Foreign Minister Dendias agreed on the need to protect journalists from growing threats in different parts of the world.
The meeting took place in the President’s office at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
