The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with H.E Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, President of the Republic of Maldives.
President Solih pledged the continued support of the Maldives to the Office of the President of the General Assembly, including for specific priorities identified by President Shahid for the 76th session in his Presidency of Hope.
President Shahid underlined the necessity of achieving vaccine equity by the end of 2022, as the first step to build back better from the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. Both sides also discussed other relevant topics, such as combatting climate change, and achieving gender equality.
The meeting took place in the President’s office at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
