    Establishment of One-Stop Centres to Counteract Violence Against Women

    The programme established One-Stop Centres to provide sustainable and integrated services to victims and offenders of sexual and gender based violence (SGBV). In 2008, South Africa had one of the highest rates of SGBV in the world. The programme successfully reduced the incidences of violence against women in Vryburg and Sunnyside.

    Model communities to demonstrate an integrated approach to HIV/AIDS and poverty in KwaZulu-Natal

    The programme sought to mitigate the overall impact of HIV/AIDS in vulnerable communities by building the capacities of local institutions, improving institutional care and support for people living with the virus, and reducing stigma and discrimination associated with HIV/AIDS.
