Niger faces a range of complex and interconnected challenges that hinder its development progress. Security concerns, including intercommunal tensions and the threat of violent extremism in the tri-border region and the Lake Chad Basin, continue to impact stability. Alongside insecurity, Niger struggles with frequent natural disasters, intensified by climate change, such as droughts, floods, and desertification, which further threaten livelihoods and food security. Chronic malnutrition remains a pressing issue, compounded by factors like population growth and limited access to essential services. These compounding and often interconnected challenges have resulted in significant displacement, disrupting agriculture, trade and livelihoods.MORE
