    The programme aimed to mobilise local responses in three of the most disaster-prone States in India. By supporting community-based disaster preparedness and improving risk management in the most vulnerable communities, more than 6,200 villages formed multi-hazard preparedness, response and mitigation strategies to natural disasters.

    The aim of the programme was to strengthen disaster preparedness and improve food security through the reconstruction of water harvesting systems, promotion of environmentally sound agricultural practices, and improved capacities of communities to cope with natural disasters.
