On 11 and 12 December 2007, the General Assembly will convene a commemorative high-level plenary meeting to evaluate progress made in the implementation of the Declaration and the Plan of Action contained in the document entitled "A world fit for children" (A/RES/S-27/2).

The commemorative high-level plenary meeting will comprise plenary meetings and two thematic interactive round tables, which are expected to cover the progress of the four outcome areas of the WFFC Plan of Action:

The President of the General Assembly, the President of the Economic and Social Council, the Secretary-General and the Executive Director of the United Nations Children's Fund will address the commemorative high-level plenary meeting at its opening plenary meeting.

A girl and a boy, selected through a process led by the President of the General Assembly and organized by the United Nations Children's Fund will address the commemorative high-level plenary meeting at its closing plenary meeting. Another 20 children will be selected, with due regard to gender balance and equitable geographical representation, to attend the General Assembly.

All the children and young people who are part of the delegations from Member States and observers will be invited to participate in the Children's Forum.
