From Philippe Lazzarini, the UNRWA Commissioner-General as posted on his official X account (previously known as Twitter)

Throughout the war in Gaza, UNRWA colleagues have relentlessly found ways to assist the population.

Now we are expanding.

  • Our healthcare teams treat nearly 15,000 patients every single day and we are expanding our public health services.
  • Our teams ensure access to clean water, are collecting and disposing of solid waste that poses a major health risk.
  • Our psychosocial counsellors organize daily sessions to help people cope with the traumas of war and bereavement.
  • In-person learning is growing by the day, now reaching nearly 50,000 children and online classes for many, many more.
  • Our staff organize regular awareness sessions about unexploded ordnance to prevent more lives being taken by the unbelievable amount of unexploded munitions littering Gaza.

With 12,000 dedicated team members and decades of experience we have the workforce, the expertise, the trust of the community to provide health, education and safety net services.

UNRWA works without intermediaries, making our operations particularly cost efficient.

More than ever, constraints and restrictions need to be lifted to respond to the most critical needs and contribute to stability.
