From Philippe Lazzarini, the UNRWA Commissioner-General as posted on his official X account (previously known as Twitter)
No respite for the children in Gaza as the bitter cold and floods brought by Storm Byron turn deadly.
Whilst the storm is a natural hazard, its consequences are man-made for a population forced to live amid collapsing ruins in makeshift shelters or in flimsy tents.
Thousands of UNRWA team members are doing everything they can to pump away water, distribute blankets and provide basic medical care.
Much, much more could be done if aid was allowed to flow in unimpeded.
