The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, and commended Egypt’s leadership role in brokering this agreement, with diplomatic support from Arab, Muslim countries and the rest of the world.
Moreover, the OIC General Secretariat called on the international community, including the Middle East Quartet and the UN Security Council, to find a political solution to end the Israeli occupation, and to enable the Palestinian people to enjoy a fully independent and sovereign state of their own within the 1967 borders, with Eastern al-Quds as its capital, based on relevant UN resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
