Joint press release by Tom Fletcher, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, and Dr Andrew Forrest AO, Founder of Minderoo Foundation

Perth/New York: Together, we announce Minderoo Foundation’s immediate AU$10 million contribution to humanitarian efforts in Gaza, delivered in close coordination with the UN-led 60-Day Plan.

This support will focus sharply on the urgent psychosocial and mental health impacts of the war, particularly for Palestinian children, closing critical gaps where help is most needed.

We jointly affirm that with humanitarian access restored, this is the moment for humanity to unite — to meet Gaza’s vast needs with equal measures of compassion, courage, and action.

Attributable to Dr Andrew Forrest AO:

“Minderoo is committing a further AU$10 million to support the United Nations’ 60-Day Plan, with an urgent focus on care environments for Palestinian children and the huge psychosocial needs caused by the war.”

Attributable to Under-Secretary-General Tom Fletcher:

“This is more than a donation: it’s a vote of confidence in the lifesaving work of the United Nations and our partners, and in humanity’s ability to act when it matters most. Dr Forrest and the Minderoo Foundation are helping us scale up in response to the ceasefire. We will match their commitment with every ounce of effort to get food, water, medicine, shelter and dignity to families in Gaza.”

Editor’s note:
Since the start of the conflict, Minderoo Foundation has provided over AU$40 million in lifesaving humanitarian assistance, with this latest package bringing the total to more than AU$51 million. Minderoo has also advanced its fully funded SafeGates proposal to ensure the safe delivery of aid, and delivered cornerstone support for the Jordanian Corridor, as well as critical programmes with the World Food Programme, UNICEF, and World Central Kitchen.
