Israel categorically rejects the libelous rant published today by the Commission of Inquiry, spreading the malicious “genocide” narrative, in attempt to delegitimize and demonize the State of Israel.

The Commission, in a last hurrah before its members’ resignation enters into effect, grossly diverges from the scope of its mandate, masquerading as a quasi-judicial body, making determinations far outside the scope of its competency and authority.

Since its inception, the modus operandi of the Commission was clear – facts are malleable, sources are selective, and divisive terminology is employed to exacerbate and polarize the conflict. Since its inception, it has systematically and deliberately omitted Hamas’s atrocities, creating a delusional illusion of a one-sided conflict.

The current COI report relies entirely on Hamas falsehoods, laundered and repeated by others. These fabrications have already been thoroughly debunked, including in an independent, in-depth academic study by the Begin Sadat Strategic Studies Center (BESA), which refuted every false allegation of genocide. Needless to say, the three authors made no attempt to address the clear findings of the BESA study.

BESA demonstrates that reports produced by UN agencies, human rights organizations, major media outlets, and scholars within the broader humanitarian ecosystem are plagued by systemic and serious methodological flaws – especially the complete omission of any discussion about Israel’s adversary in the conflict, namely Hamas, and its tactics.

The COI report falsely accuses Israel of allegations it cannot substantiate even by its cherry-picked data. Its claims rely on misleading statistics, unfounded apocalyptic projections based on weak data, and manipulated and unverified sources.

One of the many examples is the report falsely quoting Israeli security officials as allegedly saying that they are focused on “what causes maximum damage”. Once again, the COI distorts reality – the full quote in this case was “maximum damage to Hamas military capabilities.”

The Commission has proven time and again that it is not an independent and impartial human rights mechanism, but a hotbed of activism engaged in lawfare against Israel. The resignation of the Commission members is an opportunity to terminate the mandate of the COI.

Israel remains committed to international law, and as stated many times, aims to dismantle Hamas, and invests many efforts and resources in minimizing harm to the civilian population, as well as in allowing and facilitating many humanitarian efforts.
