DELIVERING ESSENTIAL AID TO GAZA
IOM is utilizing its extensive logistics networks to transport essential aid into Gaza. Once there, this aid is distributed to those in need through partnerships with UN agencies, INGOs and local NGOs. The supplies are sourced through a variety of channels, including bilateral partnerships, in-kind donations and IOM’s Common Pipeline Programme, which is a resource available to other aid organizations. During the reporting period, 139k essential aid items were dispatched to or arrived in Gaza.
REGIONAL CRISIS: INTERNAL DISPLACEMENT IN LEBANON
As of 17 September 2024, IOM Lebanon’s Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) has recorded 111,696 internally displaced persons, showing a decrease of 849 persons displaced since 10 September 2024. The IOM team in Lebanon are responding to the urgent needs of internally displaced persons in the south of the country. Note that in the last week, there were a series of attacks on Hezbollah’s communication devices, a major airstrike in Beirut, and escalated cross-border attacks which have increased displacement from the south.
