Press Release
Eight air violations of the Blue Line;
Sonic booms heard over Beirut
Beirut, 14 November 2001 (UN Information Centre) – It is regrettable that Israeli air violations of the Blue Line and of Lebanese air space are continuing to take place despite frequent and urgent calls by the United Nations for their cessation.
The Personal Representative of the Secretary-General for southern Lebanon (PRSG), Mr. Staffan de Mistura, has noted that 8 violations, consisting of 12 Israeli military aircraft and two drones, took place cross the Blue Line on 13 November.
Sonic booms were also heard in the capital Beirut.
The PRSG expresses his great concern that such repetitive actions may exacerbate an already tense situation.
In this connection, the PRSG reiterates, again, his call upon the Israeli authorities to fully respect the Blue Line and to halt all violations thereof.
