SPECIAL RAPPORTEUR ON SITUATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS IN PALESTINIAN TERRITORIES OCCUPIED BY ISRAEL TO VISIT MIDDLE EAST IN JANUARY
Mr. Hannu Halinen, the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied by Israel since 1967, will visit the occupied Palestinian territories, Israel, Jordan and Egypt from 12 to 23 January 1998.
The trip will be carried out in the context of the Special Rapporteur's mandate under the Commission on Human Rights resolution 1993/2 A. In accordance with that resolution, the Special Rapporteur will submit a report on the situation of human rights in the territories covered by his mandate to the Commission on Human Rights at its fifty-fourth session in the spring of 1998.
