COMMUNICATION DATED 23 MARCH 1949
FROM THE PRIME MINISTER AND MINISTER
OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF TRANSJORDAN TO
THE CHAIRMAN OF THE CONCILIATION
COMMISSION
Your Excellency will remember that all my views regarding the question of Jerusalem were based on the fact that it is not possible at present to give any final views on the subject and that consideration will be given to it after we are informed of the means and measures the United Nations will take to execute the Resolution and the International guarantees to be given to insure continuation of this arrangement and safeguarding it from violation.
When H.E. The Turkish Delegate expressed his conclusion of my statement, I mentioned that we did not now finally decide on the impossibility of execution of the United Nations Resolution, but that we will study the subject and give our decision after been informed of the means and Guarantees; Therefore all what I expressed is our preparedness to study the subject after getting the information referred to.
It appears to me that it might be possible that I could not exactly explain my thoughts to the Commission on this point, or the Commission might not have understood exactly what I really meant; Therefore I wish in this memorandum to register my observation to avoid any possibility of misunderstanding on the subject.
Yours etc.,
(Signed) T. Abulhuda
Prime Minister and
Minister of foreign affairs
