RCS delivers urgent aid to Palestinians
Jerusalem – The UAE Red Crescent Society (RCS) has delivered urgent relief supplies to Palestinians in a number of towns and villages. The bulk of the relief supplies consisted of medicines and other medical items worth one million dirhams.
"These items were delivered as part of RCS grand scheme to address the tragic humanitarian situation in Palestine", said Sami Makawi, Director of the UAE Friends Society. The distribution of these items will be overseen by the Palestinian Presidency.
"The UAE assistance is timely and shows good understanding of the acute humanitarian situation in Palestine. This situation is being exacerbated by the current Israeli blockade as well as by the fact that employees of the PNA have not received salaries for more than five months", said Hikmat Zayed, a Presidential Advisor.
